The Los Angeles City Attorney's office is one of the nation's largest municipal law offices. With over 1,000 legal professionals, including 500 attorneys, the Office provides the City with the highest caliber of legal services, ranging from prosecuting criminal misdemeanors and playing a leading role in criminal justice reform, advising on homelessness initiatives, defending civil lawsuits and claims, and bringing civil enforcement actions in the name of the People of the State of California. Duties and Responsibilities
The Community Outreach Coordinator (COC) will identify opportunities to participate in community events to share Office resources and promote community participation. The COC will attend various community events throughout the City of Los Angeles covering all 15 Council Districts and will interact with members of the community. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Establish and maintain relationships with local entities including City Council Offices, City Departments, nonprofit organizations, schools and religious institutions based in Los Angeles to promote outreach services for future event opportunities.
2. Engage with community members in a friendly and approachable manner. Initiate conversations and promote services offered at the LA City Attorney’s Office.
3. Interact with community members to understand their interests, concerns, and needs regarding City related matters.
4. Create and distribute informational materials, brochures, flyers, and other resources related to community programs, events, services, and initiatives.
5. Refer community members to appropriate divisions within the Office. Once referrals have been documented through email, the designated staff member will be responsible for following up.
6. Communicate common concerns shared by community members to your supervisor.
7. Serve as a positive representative for the Office and uphold the Office values, mission, and objectives in all interactions and activities.
8. Other duties as needed.

Requirements
At least one year of full-time professional experience performing duties and responsibilities
related to the Administrative Coordinator I position. Additional requirements include:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Must enjoy communicating with the public;
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds;
• Ability to operate personal computer and experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other software;
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail;
• Strong critical thinking skills with a focus on problem-solving;
• Able to sit or stand at a booth or table for extended periods;
• Able to work in indoor/outdoor locations in various weather conditions;
• Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs;
• Valid Driver’s License;
• Flexibility to work weekends or evenings as required.

Desired Qualifications
• Previous experience in community outreach, event coordination, or customer service;
• Knowledgeable of City Services and community resources;
• Friendly, outgoing, and approachable demeanor;
• Bilingual;
• Bachelor’s degree.

Telework
This position may qualify for up to 1 day of telework per week.

Current Location
City Hall East, 200 N. Main Street, Los Angeles. Position is subject to assignment at any location within the City of Los Angeles.

Probation
Appointment to this exempt position (non Civil-Service) will be subject to a one (1) year probationary period as required by Section 1050 of the City Charter. Successful completion of the one (1) year probationary period will result in tenure with the office.
Classification Current employees classified as Administrative Coordinator I can apply for a lateral transfer. Employees who promote to Administrative Coordinator I must satisfactorily complete a six-month probationary period. This position will require approval from the CAO through the Prioritized Critical Hiring process.
