Los Angeles Fire and Police Pensions (LAFPP) has a transfer opportunity for one (1) Senior Benefits Analyst in the Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP)/Service Pensions section.  

DROP Section provides services to active sworn members relating to DROP entry, exit service pension, and deferred retirement, community property estimates, and DROP beneficiary designation. 

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 

*Supervise and train staff assigned to DROP)/Service Pensions Section.  Work and training encompasses member counseling for service or deferred retirement and DROP entry/exit, processing of DROP entries to meet the monthly metrics, processing of service retirements and DROP exits to meet the Monthly Pension Schedule, and compliance with Administrative Code and City Charter in the administration of benefits. 

*Review and approve Staff work as it pertains to processing more difficult and complex service credit entitlements, pensionable pay, DROP exits and community property divisions, including estimates  

*Assist Staff by answering questions pertaining to member's community property divisions.  Communicate with City Attorney to clarify their advice on community property divisions.  

*Assist in special projects and assignments including but not limited to testing monthly 1099-R data provided by Systems, valuation data gathering and verification, updating the section's manuals and procedures, external and internal auditor's documentation requests and adjustments to monthly basis recovery and pension calculations. 

*Serve as a back-up to one other Sr. Benefits Analyst in the Section and hereby require a practical understanding of all Section processes. 

*Perform other related duties as required. 

Candidates with pension benefits background, strong organizational, oral and written communications skills are highly desired. A 9/80 or 5/40, hybrid work schedule (in the office two times per week minimum), on-site parking, and tuition reimbursement are available. The work location is at 701 E. 3rd Street, Suite 200, Los Angeles, CA 90013.
