The Office of Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez is seeking a thoughtful, hard-working, and
compassionate team member to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment as a Planning
and Land Use Deputy.
The Planning and Land Use Deputy will handle a portfolio of entitlement casework, policy work
and manage a variety of community planning and improvement projects. Working alongside the
Planning Director, the Planning Deputy will assist in the ideation and implementation of land-use
policy positions centered in undoing the impact of racial and economic disparities created by
redlining, exclusionary zoning and systemic disinvestment in Council District 1 communities.
Some evening and weekend work will be required.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to racial and economic justice, possess
strong knowledge and experience navigating the City of Los Angeles’ planning and entitlement
process; excellent organizational, communication and community-relations skills; the experience
and sensitivity needed to work effectively with multiple-publics; and an ability to work well as a
member of a team in a fast-paced, political environment.
