The Public Safety Division is seeking to fill one Personnel Records Supervisor position.  This position leads a team of employees, including Proctors, Senior Proctors, Administrative Clerks, and Senior Administrative Clerks, who are responsible for processing examinations for entry-level policing and firefighting positions in the City. This position requires strong interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of different individuals to coordinate and complete tasks and assignments and address and resolve problems and issues as, or before, they arise.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Current City of Los Angeles employee in the job classification of Personnel Records Supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sample duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assign, monitor, and provide guidance to subordinates responsible for processing entry-level policing and firefighting positions in the City, which includes scheduling candidates for test parts, coordinating polygraph testing, answering candidate inquiries regarding their status in the process, administering written and physical abilities tests, generating correspondence, and entering test results in computerized tracking systems.
  • Monitor employees’ coordination of the City’s bilingual testing process, LAPD interviews, special accommodation request processing, and expedited testing processes, as well as monitor other employee duties such as timekeeping, records retention, ordering supplies, and generating tracking reports.
  • Ensure that employees are provided with the necessary materials, training, policies, and procedures to complete their duties and to fulfill the department’s equal employment opportunity goals.
  • Complete special projects as needed for the smooth operation of the division and contribute to process improvement recommendations of the division.
  • Supervise administrative staff, including three Administrative Clerks, five Senior Administrative Clerks, and 16 as-needed Clerks, Proctors, and Senior Proctors.
