- Prepares and conducts employee MOU trainings for Department personnel and civilian supervisors on grievance handling and employer-employee relations topics;
- Recommends dispositions of grievances and prepares written responses to the grievant for the Chief of Police (COP);
- Acts as an advocate of the Los Angeles Police Department on grievances which proceed to arbitrations, which include research of judicial, administrative and other authorities, development of lines of questioning, examination, and cross-examination of witnesses;
- Preparation and submission of pre-, post- and rebuttal hearing briefs and presentation of closing arguments;
- Answering telephonic and in-person inquiries by employees, supervisors, and all levels of command staff regarding Department policies, procedures, MOU interpretations, grievance handling, personnel, and employee relations matters;
- Represents the COP in meet-and-consult sessions with labor organizations.
