JOB DESCRIPTION: Community and Administrative Support Worker III

The City of Los Angeles Youth Development Department (YDD) is seeking two highly talented and hard-working individuals to serve as a Community and Administrative Support Worker III (Community and Admin Aide). In this role, the individuals will serve as community ambassadors and administrative aides, who will work with other YDD staff to conduct community engagement, multimedia outreach, policy research, program coordination, and develop strategies around positive youth development and youth engagement.

 

Part-Time Position

$21.63 Hourly Rate

(Approximately 20 hours per week with

a maximum of 999 hours per year)

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Community and Admin Aides will be responsible for:

     Working with staff to develop innovative, multimedia approaches to disseminate to the community information on youth programming, services, and events;

     Working with staff to assist with community outreach and community projects, youth intakes and referrals, and developing strategies to strengthen youth development;

     Conducting research as it pertains to improving outcomes and policies impacting youth living in underserved and marginalized communities;

     Supporting the department’s advisory councils, including the L.A. City Youth Council, to strengthen youth voice and decision-making opportunities;

     Participating in the preparation of research reports, briefs, and presentations; data entry; and other related work as assigned.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE: QUALIFICATIONS

 

1.       1. High school graduation or equivalent is required.

 

  1. Self-motivated and independently resourceful, flexible to work on a variety of projects and initiatives ranging from communications to data entry to policy analysis, and deeply committed to improving outcomes and systems for the young people of the City.

 

  1. Must be available a minimum of 12 hours per week (between M-F, 8am-5pm).

 

  1. In accordance with Los Angeles City Ordinance 187134, candidates must meet the minimum requirement of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or receive an exemption and report their vaccination status prior to being hired by the hiring City department.

 

WORK SCHEDULE AND PAY

The YDD is currently operating in a hybrid format; in-person attendance

will be required. We anticipate Community and Admin Aides will report to work in-person at least 8 hours per week, however this is subject to change depending on department needs. Working hours will vary depending on the department’s operational needs and Community and Admin Aide’s schedule.

 

Generally, the department is open Monday - Friday from 9 am - 5:30 pm; some

weekend and night hours may be required for special events.

 

The work schedule will be finalized with the candidate so that work hours can be

mutually beneficial, however Community and Admin Aides must be available a

minimum of 12 hours per week; this position cannot exceed 20 hours per week or

999 total hours in a single calendar year.

Terms: EXEMPT, AS-NEEDED

 

Location: Hybrid (Online and 1200 West 7th St, Suite 430, Los Angeles CA 90017)
