The Bureau of Contract Administration (BCA) is seeking qualified candidates to fill some of its Senior Electrical Inspector vacancies. 

BCA provides quality assurance inspections on all construction contracts awarded by the Board of Public Works (BPW), Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), Department of Water and Power (DWP), the Port of Los Angeles (POLA) as well as permitted private construction and utility construction in the public right of way. In addition to various inspection functions, BCA inspectors also document projects creating the official legal project records and make progress payments on projects awarded by the BPW. BCA administers the entirety of the contract per the plans and specifications.

Selected candidates may be assigned to any of the five Construction Inspection Divisions within BCA, including the Wastewater Division; Metropolitan East Division, which includes a Utility Permit Warranty Program; Metropolitan West Division, which includes services to LAWA; Valley Division; or General Services Division.

Summary of Duties:

- Acts as "lead employee" on large projects requiring more than one inspector. Assigns and coordinates activities of the additional inspectors, makes the final decisions on important matters associated with the work, and coordinates inspection activities with the public and private agencies associated with the work. Performs on-the-job training of Electrical Inspectors under the direction and instructions of a supervisor (a Principal Construction Inspector).  May be assigned to act for the supervisor during periods of temporary absence.  May be assigned to specialized staff positions or functions in the BCA Main Office.
- Read, interpret and enforce electrical plans, specifications, contract documents and applicable laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to Public Works construction.
Inspect the construction of public works projects to ensure that:  The intent of the electrical plans and the purposes of the specifications are carried out; proper construction methods are employed; and acceptable construction materials are utilized.
- Enforce the applicable Construction Safety Orders of CAL-OSHA to ensure the safety of contractor's employees, City employees, and the traveling public around and in the working area.
- Prepare job records, job logs, reports of unusual occurrences, Job Memoranda and Notices of Non-Compliance, force account records, and such other miscellaneous reports as may be required by the BPW, the City Attorney, or the City Council.
- Measure work accomplished and prepare progress payment estimates for the purpose of contractor reimbursement.
