2 Accountant Vacancies available for Financial Reporting & Audit Division

GAAP Compliance & Analysis Accountant major job duties:

Prepare and input Journal Vouchers (JVs) of the Section as well as JVs received from other sections of the department.  Maintain and track monthly accrual JVs.  Review accounting documents for form and content.  Process various accounting documents and reports of the Section.  

Prepare monthly cash balance reports. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and statistical reports including the Combining and Comparative Statements of Net Assets, Combining and Comparative Statements of Revenues, Expenses and Changes in Net Positions including Los Angeles World Airports, Los Angeles Int’l Airports, Van Nuys Airport and Palmdale Regional Airport. 

Assist in researching variances in financial statements.  Assist in preparation of audit schedules including the Statement of Cash Flows, Accrued Interest Receivables, Interest Income, Operating Revenues and Operating Expenses Schedules. 

Set-up and maintain accounting and related files including supporting schedules, correspondence, and other data relating to the daily, monthly, and annual cash balances and financial statements, State reports, City Controller’s reports and FAA reports. Maintain existing accounting control procedures, and prepare documents for monthly wire-out transfer of funds. 

Obtain/request relevant reports from the SAP System, Propworks/Oracle Discoverer and other divisions for use as sources for analyzing the financials. Assist in research and implementation of new Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements and reporting requirements. Prepare the monthly cash balance reports. 

Review accounting documents for form and content. Process various accounting documents and reports of the Section. Prepare documents for wire-out transfer of funds and the related JVs for all LAWA bonds.


Capital Assets and Special Reporting Accountant major job duties:

Prepare and maintain Schedule of Federal Grants, Approved AIP, Project to Date Expenditures, and FAA Reimbursements and prepare audit schedule of Federal Grant Expenditures Lead Schedule by airport location, grant number, work order and Federal Grants Receivable Roll forward Schedule for the Single Audit Report.

Prepare schedule of changes in capital assets, maintain list of all fixed asset additions and deletions by airport and reconcile fixed assets per schedule against general ledger. Create and assign fixed asset numbers for equipment and vehicle purchases.

Prepare journal vouchers regarding payroll and payroll related accounts. Post inventory differences in SAP. Assist in obtaining data from other LAWA divisions to comply with the annual FAA Form 127 and ACI-NA Benchmarking Survey.

Prepare analysis of assigned general ledger accounts, analyze, interpret variances and prepare commentaries monthly. Assist in the preparation of LAWA monthly and quarterly reports, and annual financial and statistical reports for LAWA, City of Los Angeles, FAA and other governmental agencies.

Assist in the preparation of audit schedules including salaries and benefits accounts and other accounts as maybe required in the audit. Coordinate with the external auditors related to year-end audit. Assist in implementation of new Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements and reporting requirements including GASB 87 Leases, GASB 96 Cloud Computing, etc.

Answer and resolve telephone inquiries, occasional special projects and perform other related assigned duties
