The Department on Disability (DOD), on behalf of the City of Los Angeles, is committed

essential services and resources, and policymakers.
DOD is seeking to hire a full-time Senior Project Coordinator (CASp) in the Disability
Access & Services Division to lead the Department’s efforts to ensure the City’s
facilities are accessible to people with disabilities. This opportunity requires Certified
Access Specialist (CASp) certification prior to appointment, or a commitment to attain a
CASp Certification within two years from the date of employment.
Duties:
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Evaluate City of Los Angeles facilities and projects for compliance with applicable
accessibility standards.
- Perform plan checks and site visits to assess accessibility compliance.
- Produce facility accessibility reports.
- Investigate ADA Title II complaints and grievances related to facility accessibility.
- Make recommendations to improve physical access to City facilities, programs,
services, and activities.
- Research new and emerging accessibility trends.
- Provide training and technical assistance to comply with applicable local, state,
and federal accessibility regulations, standards, guidelines, policies, and codes.
- Assist in coordinating the development, monitoring, and implementation of the
City’s Self Evaluation and Transition Plan for ADA compliance according to ADA
regulations, standards, and guidelines.
- Plan, assign, direct, and evaluate the work of supporting staff and contracted
service providers.
- Oversee the On-Street Accessible Parking Zone Program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience, education and other professional requirements:
- CASp Certification. Candidates may apply if they do not have their CASp
certification but meet one of the CASp eligibility categories and can commit to
attaining their certification within two years of assignment to the position.
- For additional information regarding CASp eligibility, see Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 21, § 132. Note: Eligibility criteria are based on relevant education and/or experience, which may include employment in a specialized area of disability access rights.
- A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s Degree is a plus) from an accredited university
- Knowledge of applicable computer software, as well as instruments, devices,
equipment, and tools required to effectively accomplish job duties.
- Knowledge of and experience with municipal, state and federal accessibility
regulations, standards, guidelines, policies, and codes including but not limited
to: California Building Code Title 24, Americans with Disabilities Act,
Rehabilitation Act §504, Fair Housing Act, ADA Standards for Accessible Design,
Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards, Public Rights-of-Way Accessibility
Guidelines (PROWAG), and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
(MUTCD).
- This position requires that the candidate conduct field work on a regular basis.
