Student Worker Job Opportunity – Information Security Office

The City of Los Angeles’ Information Technology Agency (ITA) is seeking resumes for a Student Worker position (to be filled immediately) in the Information Security Office’s Governance Section.  This is a great opportunity for talented and highly motivated individuals who are in the process of completing their education to gain valuable experience for a professional career in Information Technology, and to get an in-depth look into the fast-growing field of Cybersecurity.

Duties include but are not limited to:

-Assist in the City-wide cybersecurity awareness programs and projects

-Assist with developing and executing awareness campaigns and events, phishing exercises, training plans, and newsletters

-Communicate and collaborate with vendors and other department personnel

-Gather and document information that will ensure successful and efficient cybersecurity governance services

-Assist in a variety of support duties in compliance, project management, and vulnerability management

-Assist with risk assessments and audits

-Perform other information security related duties applicable to a student worker level, as needed

General Qualifications

This position is open to undergraduates who have:

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, or Google Workspace/Suite, and basic computer skills

- Good communication and customer service skills

- Prior office support experience is desired



The rate of pay is $16.10 an hour.  Please note that this position is not a permanent civil service position with the City of Los Angeles.  Therefore, the position is not eligible for any employee benefits.

Note: This is an exempt, at-will position.  The individual appointed to this position will not accrue civil service tenure, contractual employment rights, or due process rights.  The incumbent may be removed, without any finding of clause, by hiring authority.  Upon hire, selected candidate must show proof of identity and legal right to work in the United States.

Work Schedule

Working hours are expected to fall between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, including at least two of these days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  The Student Worker must work 20 hours per week.  Estimated start date: ASAP.
