Economic Policy Associate Director, Mayor’s Office of Economic Development

Position Description:
Reporting to the Director of Economic Policy, the Economic Policy Associate Director will be a supporting liaison to the Economic Workforce Development Department (EWDD), City Tourism Department (CTD) and the Department of Cannabis Regulation (DCR).

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Monitors and attends relevant government, community, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Develop a deep understanding of issues affecting assigned portfolios.
  • Proactively remain apprised of economic issues at a local, state and federal level.
  • Understanding of Real Estate Principles, including Real Estate Development.
  • Debrief the Director and Senior Staff on policy issues applicable to the assigned portfolio.
  • Remains apprised of developments and issues at portfolio departments and must be able to effectively articulate the priorities of the Mayor’s Office on policy matters and other issues of importance.
  • Draft executive-level Briefing Papers, Talking Points, and provide on-site staffing for meetings and events when assigned.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders on complex issues and programs.
  • Draft executive level memos on portfolio policy topics.
  • Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience

The expertise of the qualified and preferred applicant will include a combination experience and formal training. Qualifications will include:
  • Four years’ experience in Economic Development, Public Policy, or related fields.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in Project Management, Program Management, Events Planning, or a related field.
  • Advanced writing and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Economics, Business Administration, or another closely related field.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to understand and articulate complex issues affecting various industry stakeholder perspectives and the Mayor’s office. The ideal candidate must also possess the ability to provide insights and recommendations on potential action, as appropriate.
