(Part-time position, limited to 900 hours annually)

The City of Los Angeles is a ‘charter city’ governed by a popularly elected Mayor and 15 member City Council with a $7 billion annual budget. The Personnel Department is the primary human resources entity within the City. The Department administers various human resources programs, manages employee benefits, occupational health and workers’ compensation programs, and is the City’s Equal Employment Opportunity officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Personnel Department, Recruitment Section, is seeking an Administrative Intern to assist with online social media campaigns to promote the City of Los Angeles as an employer of choice.  The incumbent will be responsible for researching social media trends, creating branded social media content, and maintaining and updating Personnel Department’s social media platforms.  In addition, the intern will be required to develop recruitment plans to increase the diversity and numbers of applicant pools for civilian positions.  The candidate will also prepare metrics for reporting, analyze the effectiveness of recruitment efforts and marketing campaigns, and make recommendations from the analysis.  The incumbent may also assist in other areas of recruitment, including attending job fairs and developing marketing materials.

Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university is required.  A degree in marketing, digital/social media marketing, communication, public relations, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field is preferred.  Emphasis will be placed on an individual’s ability to communicate and to analyze and interpret data, and their knowledge of social media.
