Injury & Illness Prevention Program
California is one of several States which administers its own occupational safety and health program. Cal/OSHA was enacted in 1973 to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for workers. In 1991 Senate Bill 198 was adopted which required Cal/OSHA to amend and expand upon the Injury and Illness Prevention Program. The effect of this expanded safety program requires that all Departments review their current Written Injury and Illness Prevention Program and ensure it is in compliance with current Cal/OSHA regulations. It is suggested that Departments follow the example Injury and Illness Prevention Program provided.
